Dan Satisky first joined the YMCA as a young man growing up in Baltimore, Maryland. When he moved to Raleigh, one of the first things he did was join the YMCA on Edenton Street. At that time Edenton Street was the only Y in Raleigh—today there over 16 branches, three resident camps and three more new Y's scheduled to open their doors in the next year. More

Capturing the Spirit of the YMCA

For more than 40 years, Burnie Batchelor captured the spirit of YMCA Camp Sea Gull and YMCA Camp Seafarer on film. Recruited as camp photographer in 1961, Burnie, and later his daughter, Joy, chronicled the camps' history through black-and-white cabin photos, staff pictures and amazing images of the facilities.
